PCS 101 Contemporary Theology for the People of God

COURSE DESCRIPTION
PCS 101 introduces pastoral leaders in inclusive communities to an accessible contemporary theology that presents a tapestry of the Divine Presence Who lovingly invites us into the fullness of life for all creation, explores the diverse and fuller naming of the Divine that encompasses the full reality of women and men of all races and classes, and illuminates a rich variety of theological approaches to compassionate living in our work for peace, justice and ecological wholeness.

The core texts for this unit are Elizabeth A. Johnson's Creation and the Cross (20180 and Abounding In Kindness (2015). Dr. Elizabeth Johnson is a contemporary Catholic theologian whose provocative presentations appeal to audiences worldwide.

Other resources are provided in the Unit to supplement a particular topic. You are encouraged to share resources as well.

In addition to the core text, a variety of resources are provided to supplement a particular topic.

COURSE FORMAT
This course is offered as an independent study or in a cohort model. Cohorts use a blog format (www.blogger.com) to foster an interactive learning community. Students post assignments and are encouraged to comment on each other’s posts. When posting please begin with your name and then the assignment session. For example: Smith, Assignment Session 1.
